Why do weather apps need to evolve?

AI Weather Bot App for iOS (currently in beta version)

With the birth of the iPhone in 2007 and its App Store on iOS and then all the other platforms like Android and Windows Phone, the Apps began to stand out in various categories, such as Utilities, Education, Economics, Medicine etc. At the same time, the Weather category was also born where it still continues to exist today.

Being a developer since 2011 and having developed several weather apps over the years, I have been able to notice the various competitive weather projects over time, their growth and diversity.

What I have noticed over the years in the weather category and especially in recent years is a general settlement of most of the projects. Weather apps are pretty stable now, too stable!

And that’s the problem! When I say stable, I mean that they lack new paradigms. What is missing is an evolution in functionality, UI and UX Design.

I personally realized this lack of new paradigm as I continued to create new weather projects. Every project I undertaken solved a part of the problem and every time I had to solve parts, parts and parts.

The market itself in the App store behaved the same, every developer I noticed that they did more or less the same approach.

I started studying every single weather instrument and I tried to breathe new life into each one.

Here are some examples:

Heat Index — HI
Barometer — Atmospheric pressure
Anemometer — Wind speed
Hygrometer — Check humidity

I then realized that we have all lost sight of the user!

We need to change our vision.

The user no longer has to install an app for each weather tool, where hundreds of similar apps already exist for each weather tool; this is just a waste of time for users.

After realizing this, we at LionsApp made a drastic decision! We have decided to change strategy in the weather apps, we want to create a final weather project, where all the possible tools are inside a single app and where each user can choose each of them and manage it independently.

We have opened a public link to test the beta version of AI Weather Bot app (limited 1000 testers) via Apple’s TestFlight app, where you can participate for free via this link:

But we will discuss this new strategy with you in the next article. Thank you for taking your time reading this article, see you soon.
